One Stop Fertility Appointment

   One stop information

What is the One-stop Fertility Assessment Clinic?

This is a complete and quick outpatient service that assesses the fertility of both the female and male partners during a single visit. We will try to establish the diagnosis causing infertility, expert advice and appropriate treatment options will be recommended without delay.

Who will I see at my one stop appointment?

Your appointment will be with Fertility Specialist, Mr Valentine Akande MBBS PhD MRCOG who has been helping couples have families since 1995. He has since been involved in the care of several hundred couples and will always ensure that you receive the highest level of care specific to your individual needs. Strict confidentiality will be maintained at all times.

Is a one stop appointment suitable for everyone?

No, some couples are not suitable for the one-stop clinic. Couples where a known problem exists such as blocked tubes or a low sperm count or where extensive test have already been done, should have a standard appointment to see Mr Valentine Akande.

What do I have to do before the consultation appointment?

You will be required to undergo some tests before consultation at least 10 days before the consultation, which we will arrange for you. The results of these tests will help us make a diagnosis and offer appropriate advice. All these are included in the price.

What happens during the clinic appointment?

·    Fertility consultation lasting 1 ½ hours including items listed below.

·    Transvaginal ultrasound scan of the uterus (womb) and ovaries.

·    HyCoSy test (to check whether the Fallopian tubes are blocked or open).

·    Discussion of the results of the female partner’s blood tests.

·    Discussion of sperm test report.

·    Expert advice on further tests or treatment if required.

·    A written summary of findings.

What are the advantages of the one stop appointment?

This one stop service is the first of its kind in the Southwest of the UK and will have the advantage of reducing the stress of repeated fertility tests and delays in treatment for couples. If you feel you may benefit from this service we would be delighted to be of help and look forwarding to meeting you.

How do I book an appointment?

If you would like to book an appointment please email SarahGamlin@aol.com or ring  0117 9146501  and say that you wish to be seen for a “one stop consultation”. Please note tests need to be undertaken prior to the appointment (see above).
